Spring Collection: Hair and Makeup Trends

Natural Makeup and Maiden Braid

For spring it’s all about looking so fresh and so clean clean, yes I ripped that line from an Outkast song. Fresh and minimal are key to creating the latest spring looks.

Makeup: Barely there makeup is a trend this spring with minimal eye makeup and a natural pout.

How-to: Dab a bit of concealer and BB cream to give you a natural skin glow. For this look you won’t even need powder, you want a dewey finish. Skip the eyeshadow and go straight to lining your lash line and plumping your lashes up with mascara. My new favorite mascara is Loreal’s Voluminous Original, which gives me ohh la lashes. Get those rosy cheeks by dusting on some pink blush. Butter those lips with lip balm and a light pink lipstick. For this look I prepped my lips with the ohh so smooth Smith’s Minted Lip Balm and topped it off with Revlon Colorburst in Candy Pink.

Hair: Braids are the new hair accessory. They’re fun, chic, and versatile. Brides are even incorporating them into their hairdos. I decided to go for a maiden braid, which is easy and simple to do.

How-to: Part you hair into two sections. Start by braiding one side and then do the other side. Once you have two braids, grab one braid and lay it on the the opposite end of your head and pin it and do the same with the other braid creating a headband.

Orange Lips and Messy Bun

Makeup: Orange is this seasons must have lipstick color, so trade it in for your reds of last season. Don’t get me wrong, I love my reds, but orange is a little more fresh and fun for spring and can also be paired with a cat eye.

How-to: For this look I’m using NYX lip pencil in the color Orange and then smothering my lips with Revlon’s Kiss Me Coral. To get the true color, first cover your lips with a concealer and then line your whole lip with the pencil. This technique will keep your color on longer as well as make it pop. Apply the lipstick and smack your lips together. I paired this bold lip with a subtle cat eye, which is another trend that is seen on the runway. Apply a little powder under the eye to prevent smudging. For the cheek I went with a bronzer for a subtle sun-kissed glow, using Nar’s Irresisitiblement, which I’m so in love with.

Hair: Ballerina buns can be messy or neat, but they always look sophisticated. It’s a style that can fit practically anything in your wardrobe, from jeans and a white tee to a little black dress. For this look I went with a semi-messy bun.

How-to: Start by apply pomade or your product of choice to make a sleek high ponytail. Next wrap the rest of the hair around the ponytail and use bobby pins to secure it in place.
